Kangaroo Care - Let’s Meet Mom!

Chris Wahlmark

First of all, CMV bloodwork came back negative! Now we just wait for the urine test. In the meantime, they cleared us to start skin-to-skin with the girls, so Hope got to spend some amazing time with both girls today. It’s an insane process to get all the wires and tubes out of the way to allow for this, so we probably won’t do it too often until they get a little more stable. But we’ll certainly take advantage of the little time we do get right now.

Josie’s starting to gain a little weight back (2lb. 12 oz) and Sammi’s on the downtrend, and is sitting at 2lb. 5oz. But they’re both still doing fantastic.

Second Day of Life

Day two brought about an opportunity to get to know our little ones just a bit better. It’s been tough seeing them on all the equipment necessary to keep them stable and check their vitals, but the entire NICU team has been incredible so far, allowing us to participate in rounds in the morning and ask as many questions as we can come up with. So far they’re introducing fluids to the kiddos slowly, and heart rate and respiratory seem good. CPAP of 5 for both, room air. Still awaiting the CMV test results from blood and urine.

Week 31+1 - First Day of Life

Josie and Sammi got to meet all the grandparents today, and are proving to be nice stable little babies. They’re getting their base tan going under the phototherapy light, and get some cool shades to wear because of it. So far, so good. Starting to sink in just how tiny they are, but boy do they have a lot of energy!

Welcome to the World!

Samantha Kay and Josephine May Wahlmark. Born June 6, 2019 at 2:46 and 2:47am, respectively. Weighing in at 2lb. 7oz. And 2lb. 11oz, 14 and 15 inches. Sammi was born first, but Josie will probably always be the bigger sister!
